Cumbre Vieja is an active volcano on the southwest side of the island of La Palma, in the Canary Islands, off the northwest shore of Africa. The island is relatively new, geologically speaking, and has witnessed volcanos and earthquakes in September and October. A 2001 study has been getting more attention in the past four years:
If the volcano’s western flank fails, it could result in a dump of up to 500 cubic kilometers of rock – 500 million tons – into the sea. If that rock were in the shape of a cube, it would be about 5 miles on a side. The effect on the Atlantic Ocean would be like dropping a rock into a bowl of water from a height. It is believed that it would cause a mega-tsunami starting out 3000 feet high, spreading out around the north Atlantic, reaching North America in 7 to 9 hours. In particular, a wall of water about 60 to 100 feet high would hit the United States’s eastern seaboard, and push rivers backwards 10 to 15 miles inland. Now, the kicker. There is a conspiracy theory going around that there is a deliberate attempt to trigger a mega-tsunami – which may or may not be true – and that we can see it happening according to this video:

The video above displays the website’s map, zoomed in on La Palma. You see a perfect square grid of earthquake markers, which is obviously not natural, so – they are trying to set off the mega-tsunami deliberately, right?
I was suspicious as soon as I saw this pattern. I found it last night and tonight on the EMSC website zooming in on La Palma, just as they said. HOWEVER! There are currently clusters of earthquakes on Hawaii’s main island, and on the island of Crete south of Greece. When you zoom in, these earthquakes too are displayed in grid form. It’s just how their software handles many earthquakes in close proximity.
