A Map of America

We provide a map representing an attempt to deal with the unsolvable political conflicts within the United States of America. These conflicts are described traditionally as left versus right, and also as: unconstrained versus constrained (Thomas Sowell); therapeutic versus tragic (Victor Davis Hanson); r versus K (Anonymous Conservative).

Polarization in the United States has demonstrably increased in the last few decades. This is visible in the following graphic from the Pew Research Center. It depicts the distributions of political positions within the two major parties.

Note that the median Republican position has moved slightly to the right, but the median Democrat position has moved far to the left.

The next graphic, from the Gallup organization, depicts pride in being American, stratified by party.

During the 20 years the poll was conducted, Republicans never had less than 64% extreme pride in being American, including during a Democrat presidency. Democrats never had more than 65% extreme pride in being American, a number which declined during a Democrat presidency, and further still during a Republican presidency. Republican pride has always been at least 10% higher than Democrat pride, and at times 54% higher.

Millions more Democrats than Republicans live in highly polarized counties, in which the 2016 presidential vote went more than two-to-one for one of the candidates. The beginnings of our map lie with the dichotomous outcome of the 2016 presidential election by county, in which each county is depicted either as blue (plurality Clinton) or red (plurality Trump). This familiar map has been published in several sources, described as the Trump continent and the Clinton archipelago.

However, it would be too difficult to separate along such lines, in which isolated counties belong to the other society. Our first edit was to identify all counties, blue or red, that are surrounded completely by counties of the opposite color (or by a national boundary or the ocean), and flip it to the opposite color. This improved the appearance of the map, but not enough.

Next, we did the same thing for clusters of two contiguous counties of the same color that are surrounded completely by counties of the opposite color (or by a national boundary or the ocean), and flipped them as well. The resulting map yields a more pragmatic separation.

The resulting countries may be called America and Alinsky, for example. Other suggestions are welcome.

    1. Interesting, but allow me to add a few things.

First, given the amount of voter fraud in California, NY, Wayne County(Detroit) Clark County (Vegas) Cook County (Chicago) and Philadelphia, it is hard to pin this down easily. Wayne, Clark and Cook counties all had more ballots cast then there were registered voters. Thatwas why the Obama appointed Judge hurriedly reversed himself and stopped the illegal recount he allowed for Jill Stein in 2016. Clark County and LA County both have significant amounts of illegal migrants and as a native Californian I can tell you that voter fraud in that state is both easy and endemic. In reality, Hillary may not even have won the popular vote. We have no real way of telling. She had had 1,969,920 votes from the five counties that make up New York City, and 1,893,770 votes from Los Angeles County, California. Trump had 461,174 votes from the five counties that make up New York City, and 620,285 votes from Los Angeles County.

Trump Trump beat Hillary by 60,044,497 votes to 58,527,645 votes in the rest of the country outside the borders of New York City and Los Angeles.

The Blue vote is concentrated in urban areas, few of which could survive independently for very long.

Second, the last Civil war was noted by these facts…first that there was no outside interference from other countries and second that whole states with a contiguous border succeeded rather than individual counties and that only happened for most of the states that seceded after Lincoln announced he was going to invade the South with an army. If we were to have a modern civil war, I guarantee you neither of these would be true. The Chicoms would certainly offer to help the Pacific areas that seceded and perhaps even send troops. The Russian might try to assist the North east Blue states. The EU might also, or at least the UK, Germany and France. Mexico might go after the EL Paso area, though I doubt they’d hold it very long. Same with Cuba and southern Florida.

Also, many areas of Blue states might definitely choose to remain in the Union. Much would also depend on how military bases and US forces would respond and how the police in these blue run cities and counties would respond. Given how they’re being treated, I could see a lot of those police in blue cities defecting to America.

I would also like to point out that the any hint of a rebellion of this sort could be stopped early. Most of our military would quickly take out antifa and BLM forces, and the Commie politicians supporting them could easily be incarcerated as well.

Back to real life…I doubt an overt civil war or secessions are in the future for the above reasons. The Gramscion warfare the commies have been waging ever since FDR recognized the USSR isn’t designed for all out warfare. It’s designed to slowly take over a nation’s institutions and pervert them..it’s unions, education, its military if possible, its political parties, its courts, its arts and sciences its press and media, and ultimately, the final blow, its government and leadership.

My apologies for the long comment.

      1. The perversion of unions and education has certainly happened. I think some of the military takeover stopped when killary lost.
A lot of the rest of what you say has certainly happened to a great degree.

  1. Over at FPM, we’ve talked about this idea, at length, and you probably know my attitudes and ideas about this. By the way, I’m Wolfie02 … and no, you still don’t know my real name. I’ll keep that to myself.

I almost completely agree with the map that you’ve presented here. I say “almost” simply because US military bases, including ports, must … absolutely MUST remain under the control of America. The nation would protect the Continent from foreign aggressors, and control of these bases would be vital.

By the way, John Mark’s efforts have somewhat fizzled out with the dismal turnout of his people on the 4th of July, for the signing of his new Constitution. Perhaps a couple of hundred people showed up at the Statehouse in Virginia.

    1. Leftists being at least as dumb as South Carolina in 1861 will not tolerate nasty American occupation of there sovereign territory and like South Carolina at Fort Sumter will be stupid enough to fire on Camp Pendleton or Fort Lewis. The rest will be history.

    2. There’s a dark and dangerous threat to the “peaceful separation” into Red and Blue America. Gov. Nuisance of California may be in bed with the Chinese more than anyone could possibly imagine. This includes money-laundering of cash for his re-election, shipments of parts to the United States of parts that would make AR-15’s fully-automatic. These parts are purposed to go to BLM and Antifa. For what it’s worth:

      https://ussanews.com/News1/2020/07/03/new-intel-communist-china-providing-automatic-weapons-to-antifa-black-lives-matter/

If there were to be a “peaceful separation”, I wouldn’t be surprised to see California invite Chinese troops onto US territory. The other part of this story, if true, would make confronting BLM (especially) quite dangerous, indeed.

This is NOT the only source that I have about Chinese efforts to get into America …

      1. My friend, there is a sort of war going on right now between China and the USA. This war is not as kinetic as WW2, but it may be heating up beyond Cold War levels.

There are many moving chess pieces. My best source is my wife, following the Chinese-language blogs, so I find out news a week or so before it hits English-language media.

No doubt you have heard of Dr. Li-Meng Yan. She apparently knows a lot more than you have heard so far, and it will be released gradually over the next several weeks. It involves not only the genocidal intent of the CCP, but also the corruption of numerous high-ranking government and business officials, some well-known, some Democrat and some Republican. Essentially, there is virtually no one in power we can trust other than PDJT and his close, direct, open supporters.

Did you wonder how Dr. Yan escaped China? She was extracted by an operation led by Steve Bannon and exiled Chinese entrepreneur Miles Guo. They are trying to establish a United States of China. Their blogs and those of their ally Lu Deh are gaining increasing support among overseas Chinese. They are the movers behind unmasking all of the Chinese and American corruption, and thus have made many dangerous, powerful enemies.

Are you aware of the new virus observed in Kazakhstan and Taiwan, claimed to be more powerful than coronavirus? Are you aware of the outbreak of bubonic plague in Inner Mongolia? Are you aware of the terrible stress on the world’s largest dam, the Three Gorges Dam in China, with about 400 million people downstream?

As to your direct point, any separation would be conditional on a treaty that forbids the stationing of any foreign troops on the territory of the other country. Violation of this clause would be cause for war.

      2. I have been thinking that for several years — ever since BLM first started and obama was in office. The lib arming of their “civilian army”. We tend to think of most libs as pacifist because they want to do away with our Second Amendment and our gun rights.

But only because they want to be the only ones armed.

      3. I truly hope the recall petition underway to rid California of Gov. Newsome gains traction. Would also like to see a federal investigation of said governor take place but I won’t hold my breath. I read your link posted on FPM and it is indeed scary.

    3. Steffen/Wolfie02, I know you have mentioned that you can get messages to President Trump, at least sometimes, and knowing we still have some months before the election cycle is over that it may be harder to get a message to President Trump. Anyway, when time allows can you send him a message requesting he make January 22nd, 2021 a National Day of Mourning for the 60+ million victims of abortion in this country. Not a Holiday, or a day off of any kind, just a National Day of mourning, flags a half staff/mast would be a nice touch. It might help the country to heal some. Yes, the evil in the country will rage over it, but then they need something to continue to expose themselves over, and this would definitely do it.

      1. That sounds like a fine idea. I will pass it on. I especially like the notion of flags flying at half-mast, for second largest mass murder in world history.

  2. There was a book that was published back in the early/mid 90s called Civil War II. I do not have the name of the author at hand at the moment. He was a US infantryman who served a couple of tours of duty in Vietnam, after which he went and served in a Spec Ops unit in the Rhodesian Army, and after that he served with the Slovenian army during the turmoil in the Yugoslavian/Balkans of the late 80s and early 90s.
What his book was about was how he saw these countries where he served, had broken up along religious, racial, and political lines, and he applied what he had seen in those countries to the USA.
What he presented is similar in some ways to what you are presenting, with some differences mainly based on religious and racial lines.
If things continue to go the way they are right now, we could see something of what he presented happen, especially with Trump being re-elected.
I am glad to know that we all have at least been able to prepare to certain extents, so we can weather the storms we are facing now and in the future.

  4. have you actually tried to prove how many people have read Saul Alinsky? Naming an area of million after an author I do not think they have read, at all, is confusing.

  5. —if it matters, Howard Zinn’s “A People’s History of the United States” has around 2,800 reviews, and “rules for radicals” less than 2,000, on Amazon.com.

—I am honestly not sure what these numbers mean. It might mean more people have read Zinn than have read Alinsky.

How about calling the two places “It takes a Village-Ah” and America?

      1. —But how many people have read any Alinsky, or any Zinn?

—Millions who have never read Alinsky are not going to name a new country after him.

  6. How many people will admit to having read Alinsky or Zinn and then take the time to review, would be a better question.
Sort of like when it’s announced that people need to start registering their weapons.
    No, I don’t think so.
Sometimes I use reviews before purchasing an item, sometimes I ignore them. How do you know if they are biased or real?

My biggest fears are that the demonrats don’t care what kind of damage they do to get back in control, that they will change the ballots that are being forced to be mailed in; and when that fraud is proven, as I believe it was in Arizona most recently, nothing will be done about it.

    1. All one needs to do with Alinsky is just read the 12 rules for radicals, and that will tell you all you need to know.
Zinn may be a bit more difficult, although, all you would have to do is search for Howard Zinn quotes through any search engine. Reading those quotes should be more than sufficient to get a grasp of him and his writings.

  7. Just a little bit of data exploration here… If we take all the 2016 presidential election voters and divide that number in half, giving the most strongly Democrat counties to Alinsky one at a time until they reach the halfway point, they get 479 counties.

If we follow the prescription of the first map, Democrats pick up just 8 more counties for Alinsky with less than 1 million combined population, so the division of the population is just about even.

Some counties are traded in both directions going from the first to the second and third maps. America probably picks up a little more population than it loses, but the division is still close to balanced.

This is important when we recall the Civil War, in which the GDP of the south was no match for that of the north, and that was a major determinant of the outcome of that war. In contrast, the America proposed above has a population very close to that of Alinsky, but with a domination of the landmass and natural resources. Both nations should be viable.

Coming soon… installments from my book “The Suicide of the West”. See you soon and thank you for your interest!

  8. Congrats on getting it up and running, Surak.

Yes, we are committing suicide, but there will be no divorce much as we would like to see one.

    Downside;

As we are often fond to point out; the Left cannot live without us. OTOH, our utility has fallen as we have aged and lost experience and opportunities. Not to blame us – we’re the victims in the tragedy – but America has deported a wealth of opportunities that should have created a wide variety openings for out talent pool. Instead, we have just enough people in every discipline to fill a photo op.

This is not to say we cannot turn the nation around, but it won’t be easy, and we cannot go cold turkey on anything. Rather; our road out of the dilemma requires a long, hard slog zigging and zagging out of the hole the Demokkkrats have dug for us.

    Upside;

It’s not as bleak as it would seem. Leftists are wicked and evil people, but they are a tiny minority compared to the average American.

Many of these counties are only Blue due to voter fraud and illegal and illiterate migrants.

Americans are the majority; and though they may be as clueless as a box of rocks, they will support lower crime rates, lower unemployment rates, and more opportunities.

We only have to take back sufficient power to hold the border and the voter fraud, and the recovery will begin.

  9. Regarding the update: It would be interesting to correct the total immigration rate to account for illegal migration and welfare-induced migration.

As far as I know, we have little or no reliable data to make such a calculation in the public domain; but we know some governments – e.g. the USA and Germany – do maintain these numbers despite the official denials.

My bet is that only America and Canada have net positive migration after accounting for these factors. Not to dismiss the desire of migrants to go to other countries to escape Communist, Socialist, or Islamic hellholes; but I’m fairly sure only these two have offered legal migration to actual emigrants to affect total net migration.

Even in America – I know for a fact, having seen the actual data – that the number of legal migrants entering America to become American is a small fraction of total migration. I only see it as significant because that small fraction appears to be larger than those leaving the country – e.g. to retire in Costa Rica, or to do business in Panama.

    Just opining …
