In my senior year of college, my advisor thought it would be useful to me to have a semester of “education”, since I was going to teach. I reluctantly agreed with him, although I didn’t want to take a Frosh level course (I was already teaching graduate-level courses, at the time). I dropped the course before I ever sat through a session. The reason was simple. I went to the bookstore to purchase the texts, and an “Absolutely Necessary” book was Zinn’s book. There’s no way that I was going to listen to an education prof praise Howard Zinn for a semester.
The main textbook of the course was filled with references to … you guessed it … Howard Zinn. Pity the children of America being taught Communism by Zinn-approved Marxists.
